The Election Commission of India (ECI) on September 30, 2026, extended the deadline for the publication of final electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya to October 16 and October 26, respectively. This decision was made at a meeting of the poll panel, which also decided that individuals would no longer need to appear for a hearing regarding discrepancies in their Special Intensive Revision (SIR) forms.

The Delhi High Court on September 30, 2026, sought the Central Government’s response to a petition challenging the mandatory biometric Aadhaar authentication for domestic LPG consumers to book refills at the regulated retail selling price with applicable subsidy, effective from October 1. A bench comprising Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia orally questioned the universal availability of Aadhaar, directing the Centre to provide instructions by Monday.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is conducting special quality inspections of 17 under-construction National Highway projects where the bid value was more than 15% lower than the estimated project cost. These inspections, led by 39 experienced and retired engineers and technical experts, are supplementary to regular quality checks and aim to proactively address quality-related issues.
